Beijing Sevenstar Science & Technology Group Co., Ltd. (owner and operator of the 798 Art Zone)is a large high-tech industrial group with R&D, production, sales, service and foreign investment in accordance with modern enterprise management system, which originated from the 157th Major Project of the First Five-Year Plan—State-owned North China Wireless Equipment Factory , i.e., 718 Joint Factory, including 700 Factory, 706 Factory, 707  Factory, 718 Factory, 797 Factory, 798 Factory.

In the beginning of 21st century, 798 factory has reorganized its business while the unoccupied factory buildings have been reused for the building of art zone and the development of the art related industry.

After 16 years of development,Beijing 798 Art Zone has transferred from the original electronic production factory into an area of creative culture industries, which are merged by multiple cultural forms.

At present, 798 Art Zone has become an indicator of Chinese contemporary art and a cultural business card,  798 has evolved into a cultural concept and became an important platform for communication of art and culture, domestic and overseas.

Artists and art institutions gradually settled in 798 Art Zone and they were the major parts of the early stage 798 Art Zone.

Prestigious art and cultural institutions galleries and all over the world and over 1000 artists have settled in 798 Art Zone. By the end of 2018, there are 515 art institutions in798 Art Zone, among which there are 60 foreign cultural institutions  from 25 countries and regions.By 2020, there will be 300 art and culture institutions and by 2025, there will be 350.
